Survey the Kingdom (aka Salmon Arm) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Wizard of Ooze: As the cache owner has not indicated that they have visited the cache location to replace it if missing, perform needed maintenance, or verify that it is still there within the requested time period, I am regretfully archiving the cache to clear it from the active cache database and open the area to new caching opportunities.

If the cache owner would like to replace a cache at this location, please submit a new geocache listing and it will be reviewed under the current geocaching.com guidelines. Please don’t post a note on your archived listing as it won’t be forwarded to me and I won’t see it. If you need to contact me, please do so by emailing me through the contact link on my geocaching.com profile page or through my website www.wizardofooze.com

Thank you for your contributions to geocaching, and we hope to see you actively geocaching once again in the near future.

Geocache Description:

This cache location offers a fantastic view of Salmon Arm and Shuswap Lake.

This cache is not a drive up cache unless you are on an ATV, Mountain Bike or Dirt Bike, otherwise it does involve a nice hike.

The cache is accessed via a decommissioned forest service road on Mount Ida. The FSR entrance is at: N 50 40.686 W 119 18 485. The FSR is in fairly good shape most of the time. If you have a lowered street car this in not the cache for you.

It is recommended that this cache is not attempted during or just after extended periods of rain as the road can be very muddy. Also it can be heavily covered in snow in the winter.

If you venture up the FSR you can find a parking at: N 50 39.586 W 119 18.661.

You must walk from here unless you are on ATV, Mountain Bike or Dirt Bike as the section of FSR that T's off by the suggested parking spot is closed to Cars/Trucks etc.

The walk does have a bit of a slope but unless it is a super hot day you should not break too much of a sweat.

The view from here is spectacular and is worth the trip in itself but do keep in mind you are here to geocache.

The cache is a 100 ml camouflaged lock-n-lock container.

It contains a log book, pencil and a sharpener. It does offer room for small trackable items.

We are also launching our First First to Find prize Geocoin in this cache.

Definitely bring you camera with you.
