This cache is to celebrate the Jade Marathon, a race that was run between the townships of Cleve and Cowell.
The Jade Marathon was run in 1990 for at least three years. I recently heard from a friend that his grandmother competed in the race for three years running!
In addition to the marathon, a unique relay race was held with stages of 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, two 10km stages and one final 11.2km stage. I ran in the second 10km stage and the cache is located near my starting point.
I was a member of the Cleve Area School relay team. We were ecstatic when we came 3rd, but less than impressed when the school "donated" our prize money to their current fundraising effort!
