Simple offset cache taking you to two points in the lovely
little town of Saxapahaw, NC followed by a gentle hike along the
Haw to a large ammo-box. Kids will love the hike and
hide.
Saxapahaw, like most communities in Alamance County, were mill
towns built around the community's cotton mill and along the Haw
River. The first mill was built in the community in 1844, but was
later demolished to make way for a brick structure. The current
mill building was owned and operated by Dixie Yarns until 1994,
when a tornado damaged the structure and operations never resumed.
Building remodeling was completed in 2006 and the facility now
houses apartments (Wikipedia).
To complete this cache, firstly go to the listed co-ordinates...
should be easy parking there. What giant body parts are there?
Answer the question and you have the value for X
Knees: X=9
Ears: X=0
Hands: X= 4
Check out the Mill building behind you that now houses
apartments.
Drive on over to the Saxapahaw General Store @ N35 56.807 W79
19.133. You can park at this central hub of village life. Check it
out...amazing range of stuff inside. On the window are a grouping
of stars. How many? Answer the question and you have the value for
Y
Plug in the final co-ordinates: 35 56.6Y3 79
19.01X
Should be a short hike <0.2miles with an interesting but easy
bridge crossing. I have included parking (General Store) and trail
head co-ordinates as child waypoints. Do not drive to the trail
head, as there is a sign banning unauthorized vehicles. You are
looking for a dirt trail down to the Haw River trail round back of
the General Store.
