Geocache Description:

A family friendly camping get together in the East-Central Alberta county of Paintearth. Everyone is welcome to attend! What could be better than sitting around the campfire telling tales, roasting marshmallows and maybe a little singing.

Big Knife Provincial Park will be the setting for this event. There is a very nice camp ground at the park or drop in for a visit during the day. There will be some new caches hidden for the event. We are asking that no new caches be placed within the park. Anywhere around the park is fair game!

Add some holidays around this event and do some caching in Caster, Hanna, Stettler, Drumheller, Three Hills, etc. There are some great caches in this part of Alberta!

Big Knife is approx. 175 kms from Edmonton; Approx. 60 kms from Stettler; Approx. 135 kms from Red Deer.

There will be prizes for those who want to play. Official time for the event & prizes will be Saturday, August 29 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., but stay all weekend and cache this exiting part of Alberta!

We will be playing a Geocaching version of Scrabble. At 2:00 p.m. on Saturday co-ordinates will be given out for 8 temporary caches. In 7 of the caches there will be envelopes with one scrabble tile enclosed. (One cache will be a quaranteed vowel - the other 6 will be a mix). Cachers take one envelope from each cache. The eighth cache will have numbers that will denote the order of word placements on the scrabble board. First down will be guaranteed a double word score! Turns will be taken until all tiles that can be placed are down. Standard scrabble rules will apply. Prizes will be given out for highest score, longest word, etc.

There will be an icebreaker bingo game during dinner. You must find out the name of the cacher to match a question on the bingo sheet. Prizes will be given for first bingo line completed and first to complete the entire sheet.

We will set up in the campsite overflow area (look for the specially painted Boler), but you may choose a private campsite. For those who wish to hotel it, there are places to stay in Galahad, Forestburg, Halkirk, Castor or Stettler.

We are planning a supper for Saturday evening around 6:00 p.m. Garlic Gulpers will contribute burgers & Churchman and DarnSocks will bring buns and condiments. Please bring a food item to share with the group.

Donations of firewood would be appreciated. (Garlic Gulpers will bring a truckload!)
Forestfyre will have bannok and Churchman and Darnsocks will host a pot luck pancake breakfast on Sunday morning. Bush Creatures will bring the bacon.

A big thank you to World Caching, Landsharkz, Cache Effect, Discover GPS (Edmonton), Garlic Gulpers, Rat Root, DarnSocks and Churchman for donating prizes to our event.

Please keep checking this site for updates.
