Questa cache è collocata su un albero, a circa 9 metri dal suolo, nel punto nel quale dal tronco si dividono i rami principali. Per raggiungerla occorre effettuare la salita fino a tale punto, adottando tecniche di tree climbing.
A coloro che non hanno mai sperimentato l'arrampicata su albero ricordo che la salita non è semplice come potrebbe apparire a prima vista; qualunque sia il metodo che sceglierete occorre prestare molta attenzione e possedere una buona conoscenza delle tecniche di assicurazione e di risalita su corda in piena sicurezza, nonché dei materiali da impiegare.
Da quando vi staccate dal suolo a quando vi ritornate dovete essere sempre assicurati: quando salite, quando scendete e soprattutto quando loggate; ricordate le cinque stelle di difficoltà per il Terrain.
Inoltre considerate che un albero in un bosco può cambiare nel tempo: quando l'ho salito io era solido, sicuro ed affidabile, ma potrebbe non esserlo più quando ci proverete voi. Potrebbe essere stato colpito da un fulmine o indebolito da qualsiasi altra causa.
L'ho scelto anche perché il tronco oltre che robusto era pulito, ma non posso sapere se in futuro sarà pieno di formiche o se le vespe ci faranno il loro nido o se ci saranno altri problemi.
Pensate in primo luogo alla vostra sicurezza, ma anche a non danneggiare l'albero: la salita in tree climbing non deve recare alcun danno alla pianta.
Se per far passare la corda tra i rami adotterete la tecnica del lancio, fate molta attenzione per evitare che vi cada in testa l'oggetto che lancerete, indossate comunque il casco e fatelo indossare a coloro che vi accompagnano.
Mettete in preventivo un po' di tempo: a meno che non abbiate molta fortuna o che siate assai abili, il cordino che lancerete si imbriglierà più volte tra i rami sbagliati prima di situarsi finalmente - all'ennesimo tentativo - nel posto giusto.
Prima di tentare questa cache informatevi sulle tecniche di tree climbing (in Internet c'è parecchio materiale), per non arrivare impreparati.
Il bosco nel quale si trova l'albero con la cache non è molto grande e potete raggiungere il punto giusto in pochi minuti partendo da posti diversi; il modo probabilmente più veloce consiste nel parcheggiare al waypoint PARK, imboccando poi la strada sterrata verso est. Dopo circa trenta metri essa si divide in tre rami: prendete quello più a sinistra (nord); seguendolo si perviene nei pressi dell'albero con la cache.
Ho cercato un posto che non fosse lontano dal sentiero (questa volta la difficoltà non consiste nel cimentarsi con i rovi del bosco, ma con la salita dell'albero) ma nemmeno adiacente ad esso, per rendere meno probabile la presenza di un pubblico di curiosi a chi vorrà provare la salita.
La cache si trova in un sacchetto legato ai rami con due sottili pezzi di spago.
ATTENZIONE: tale spago ha una tenuta molto limitata ed è adatto a reggere un peso di pochi grammi, non certo quello di una persona: non è un cordino da alpinismo e non deve per nessun motivo essere impiegato come assicurazione.
Se qualcuno di coloro che arriveranno alla cache vuole apportare dei miglioramenti - senza cambiarne la collocazione - è assolutamente libero di farlo ed anzi gliene sarò grato.
Credo che le coordinate siano precise, in ogni caso non avrete difficoltà a riconoscere la pianta giusta grazie allo spago intorno al grosso ramo a sud.
Come premio per il FTF ho inserito in questa cache - insieme con log e matita - un hint decisivo per la soluzione della mystery cache GC1N2K4 - "Vetta nel bosco".

This cache is located on a tree, about 9 meters above the ground, where the trunk branches out in three main directions. To reach it you need to climb up to that point.
If you never tried tree climbing, you should know it is not so easy as it could seem; whatever way you choose you will have to take a lot of care and to have a good knowledge of securing techniques, of climbing on rope in full safety and of the equipment to use.
You must always be secured when you are not on the ground: when you go up, when you get down and especially while you are logging; remember the five stars for Terrain.
Moreover you shoud consider that a tree in a wood may change over time: when I put the cache it was solid, safe and reliable, but it could no longer be such when you try it. It could have been struck by lightning or weakened by any other cause.
I chose it also because the trunk was not only firm but also clean, but I cannot know if in the future it will be full of ants or if you will find there a vespiary or any other problem.
Consider your safety first, but also do not damage the tree: tree climbing must not cause any damage to the nature.
If you throw a stone or something like that to position the rope among the branches, be very careful to avoid it falls on your head; use an helmet and have people who are with you use it too.
Unless you are either very lucky or very skilful, it will take some time because the rope you throw will get entangled many times among the wrong branches before it finally goes - after many attempts - in the correct position.
Before trying this cache, enquire about tree climbing (you may find much information about it on the Web), so that you will not be unprepared for it.
You may easily reach the tree with the cache because the wood it is located in is not very large; you may choose among some different access points and it will take just a few minutes; the likely nearest park is the one at waypoint PARK: take the dirt road to east, which after about 30 meters splits off in three directions: take the one on the left (north), follow it and you will arrive near the tree.
I tried to choose a place which is not far from the path (this time you will not have to move among thorns, but to climb a tree...) but not contiguous to it because I try to spare you the presence of curious people looking at you while you climb the tree.
The cache is inside a plastic bag which is tied to the branches by two fine pieces of string.
WARNING: such string is very weak; it is good to bear a weight of just a few grams, but not at all the one of a person: it is not a mountaineering belay rope and you must absolutely never use it for assurance.
If some of those who will reach the cache wants to improve its solidity or make it anyway better - provided the cache remains where it is now - he/she is welcome to do it: in fact I will be grateful to him/her for this.
I think the coordinates are accurate, anyway you may easily recognize the right tree thanks to the string around the big southern branch.
The FTF prize for this cache - included with log and pencil - is a decisive hint to solve the mistery cache GC1N2K4 - "Vetta nel bosco".
