This cache is in the vacinity of Mattersey Priory. However due to historical site restrictions it is not located at the Priory itself. But after finding the cache make sure you visit the actual Priory as it is very interesting and has good views.
The Priory was founded before 1192, by Roger Fitz Ranulph De Maresay, for six canons. At the dissolution of monasteries and Priories it was valued at £60. The remains of the Priory stand a mile east of the village, and adjacent to its site is now occupied by a farmhouse.
The cache is small and has room for only a few small items along with the existing logbook and pencil.
