Geocache Description:

Placed close to the gate to the M.O.T.H. Club in Phalaborwa. Flat terrain, wheelchair accessable, and a safe area to get ourt of your vehicle. Park in front of the gate if it is locked, and just walk around the gateposts. (No fence)

The cache is in a smallish plastic cannister. Inside a logbook, fishing weight, and some other goodies. Bring own pen!! It is placed just outside the gate to Minefield Shellhole, so it is available at all times. Even though it feels like it is in the stix, please feel safe to alight from your vehicle. Phalaborwa is still very much crime free. The cache is situated next to a nursery.

The M.O.T.H. order was started at the end of the 2nd World War, as a "home" for the soldiers that were left to grow old. It is also a tribute to the Unknown Soldier, of whom there are thousands in unmarked graves.

On a lighter note, the M.O.T.H. order is still going strong, and is alive with soldiers that saw action up to 1983. It is essential a charity organisation that looks after it's own members, and also the local comunity. Our 3 ideals are: True Comeradeship, Mutual Help, and Sound Memory.

Once you have found the cache, please feel free to come into the Shelhole and have a cold one with us, and have a look at our memorabilia from the old Rhodesia, both world wars, and the South African Army, and also the current SADF. The Shellhole is normaly open on Wednesday and Friday afternoons from +/- 17:00, and on Saturdays from 12:00.
