This cache is near the end of the John Day swing bridge. It is not over the water. It is in a large rubbermaid container. There is a little climbing involved (more of a large step) but it is not hard at all. The cache contains some nice goodies like an 1860's whisky flask, beaded necklaces, a high end USB cord, free coffee's at McDonald's, a match box and more. It is about 1.75 miles round trip but it is worth it. This is a nice spot for pictures of many types of birds. To get there take the turnoff to the MERT's Campus off of Highway 30. There is parking at the tracks, just head Southeast. The approach is down the tracts, don't worry the line is no longer active and many sections have been missing east of the bridge for years so there is no chance of any train coming down the tracts.
