Geocache is located on the James F. Dubuar Memorial Forest. This forest is accessible year round for uses ranging from snowmobiling to hunting, and everything in between. Parking is nearby.
Where: The James F. Dubuar Memorial Forest is used by the SUNY ESF Ranger School as an outdoor classroom. Students from the school use this forest daily for projects ranging from surveying to cruising timber.
The cache is located very close to Eskar Pond, a natural bog located near an eskar. The trail (Eskar Pond Trail) follows the top of an eskar to the bog and continues on to connect to Latham Trail. All trails are well marked.
When: The Forest is open to recreation 24/7. Precautions should be taken during hunting season. As students commonly use the property, don't be surprised to stumble across students working on a project or out hiking.
Parking: Parking is available on the Ranger School property in multiple locations. Upon entering the Ranger School, take a left on the main road to lead up to the best parking area and trail head.
Other notes:
- The road system is open for hiking and biking, though absolutely no private vehicles are allowed. The Ranger School has a fleet of pickup trucks and vans which occasionally use the roads.
- Rehide the cache well! Ranger Students are constantly collection insects for a bug collection, traversing a straight line through the woods, or searching a plant specimen. A cache left exposed will not last long.
