This cache is hidden just outside the grounds of the Knockagh Monument, a large obelisk erected to all of those who fell in the two world wars. There is parking nearby at the end of Monument Road and the cache is a short walk downhill from here. The terrain is fairly easy, but is not wheelchair friendly. Care should be taken if you are bringing small children with you, as you will need to walk fairly close to the edge of the hill.
This cache is hidden at a location with a great view of Carrickfergus, Greenisland and the Belfast Lough. The cache location is not visible from the car park nor from the base of the monument, but it is common for tourists to visit this great viewpoint and there is often someone sitting in the car park, so some discretion may be needed to avoid muggle observation. You are looking for a cunningly camouflaged ammo can containing a log, lots of swag, geocoins and travel bugs. Please re-hide the cache out of sight of muggles.
UPDATE APRIL 2010: Now that the cache has been in place for a year with no apparent muggle activity, we have decided the time has come to open our first five-star Travel Bug Hotel & Spa, a great place for your bugs to relax and unwind and enjoy the view!
We have loaded the cache up with a lot of coins and bugs from Canada, and will be back every March/April to bring new bugs from North America. If you want to send your bugs on a big holiday, please place them in the cache by mid-March in a zip-loc marked 'Bugs for Canada'!
Please remember to log bugs that you take from the cache, and help them travel widely and achieve their missions! If you are taking a bug, please leave another one behind for other cachers.
