Geocache Description:

This cache is a 1 quart plastic container located somewhere alongside the shady single-track Cascade Trail which runs along Grass Valley Creek in Anthony Chabot Regional Park. No bushwacking is required, but the area in the immediate vicinity of the cache is slippery.

This cache is named for a now retired park ranger named Pete. Back when Pete was working in this park, he would finish up his official rangering duties and then voluntarily head out here with his pick and shovel and work on building the Cascade Trail all alone and with his own two hands. Quite an accomplishment. A map of the park is at https://www.ebparks.org/parks/anthony_chabot/ . The park is open from 7 am to 10 pm. The nearest parking lot is at Clyde Woolridge Staging Area where Grass Valley Road meets Skyline Blvd in Oakland. Check the park’s website, http://www.ebparks.org/parks/anthony_chabot, for other useful information. There is poison oak in the area, but you can easily avoid it while grabbing the cache.
