This is a 4-part multi along the Clark Bog Trail, in the Hanover Conservation Land off King Street in West Hanover, MA.
The land is part of a 300 acre ammunition manufacturing complex built in 1945, and abandoned in 1949. Time has erased almost all evidence of the place. There are numerous structural remnants in the woods. The 4 stages & cache are located on or near various ruins.
The round trip loop covers approx 2.3 miles. The trail itself is a paved road, but hasn't seen maintenance in over 60 years. The terrain is perfectly flat, but it's a fairly long stroll. A mountain bike makes this a very easy trip. A street bike might have to be walked through a few rough pieces of road. Motor vehicles are not allowed.
See how many remnants you can see of this once considerable industrial site. The utter abandonment of the place leaves a ghostly and sinister impression.
Beware of the occasional disposed appliance, tires, and car parts.
The tall pines can cause GPS errors in some locations; defer to the hints.
