The Glenwood Open Space Preserve is a 160 acre tract of land which was set aside as mitigation for the Ponderosa Homes subdivision three years ago. The management of the property, currently owned by the City of Scotts Valley, may soon be turned over to the Land Trust of Santa Cruz County pending approval by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Once the transfer has taken place part of the long-term management plan would likely include provisions to build a trail system on the land while continuing to protect the property’s endangered species which include the Ohlone tiger beetle, Scotts Valley spineflower, Opler's Longhorn moth, Mount Diablo cottonweed and Gray's clover.
Until trails are established, the preserve is closed to the public.
