Stavsjö är ett gammalt brukssamhälle som växt upp runt Stafsjö bruk, som grundades 1666 för att tillverka kanoner. Bruket blev en stor leverantör av gjutna kanoner och ammunition. Som de flesta bruk kom Stavsjö i kris under 1800-talets andra hälft. Kanongjutningen upphörde 1859 och masugnen revs 1898. Men genom ombildning till aktiebolag och satsningar på nya produkter lyckades företaget överleva. En starkt bidragande orsak var de förbättrade förbindelserna genom att stambanan Järna-Åby blev klar 1915. Idag är Stafsjö bruk en modern och expansiv industri och nuförtiden tillverkas ventiler.
Kärnan av samhället har flera hus kvar från bruksperioden.
Passa på och gå in i Stafsjö Bruksmuseum.
Museet är inrymt i en byggnad från 1912 som först varit kvarn och såg och sedan kraftverk. Turbinen finns kvar. Här visas verktyg och produkter från Stavsjö bruk och en modell över området 1914. Bruket tillverkade kanoner i 200 år samt ammunition. Därefter gjorde man tröskverk, lokomobiler och andra maskiner.
Vid koordinaterna se ovan finns Museumet och utanför står lite saker uppställda som man hittar uppgifterna för att få fram slutkoordinaten.

Stavsjö is an old industrial community, which has developed around Stavsjö works, that was founded in 1666 to produce guns. The works became a big supplier of moulded guns and ammunition. Like most works Stavsjö had some crisis during the other half of the 1900th century. The gun mould came to an end in 1859 and the blast furnace was demolished in 1898. But through transformation to joint-stock company and concentration on new products the company managed to survive. A big contributory cause were the improved connections when the trunk line Järna-Åby was finished in 1915.
Today Savsjö works is a modern and expansive industry and nowadays they produce ventilations. The centre of the community has several houses from the old industrial community left.
Make sure to visit Stafsjö works museum!
The museum is located in a building from 1912, which has been a mill, a saw and then a power station. The turbine is still here. Here shows tools and products from Stavsjö works and a model over the area in 1914. The works produced guns and ammunition for 200 years. After that they made threshing machines, tractor other machines.
