Geocache Description:

Out fishing with the Elks club, figured this spot needed one.

I guess you'll either agree with the terrain rating if you do what I did; climb up from the shore of the lake, or not. The reason I mention it is there's apparenlty some way to drive up here as there were a couple dirt bikes parked up there. Either way, its a very scenic spot I think you'll enjoy. There's a HUGE rock over hang type cave you'll see if you climb up. Unfortuantely, it appears local youth may not be as reverant of these natural wonders as we geocachers, as there's some spraypaint graffitti inside the cave. I was intending to do a little "trash out" on the way out but ended up spraining my ankle while up top doing the hide so that didn't happen. This cache is a 4 inch PVC container with a pressure plug. Its painted brown to blend in where it is. Ticks and Chiggers abound! Including those little pin head ticks that itch like crazy. After getting eaten alive a year ago while down here fishing and caching you'd think I'd have remembered the bug goop! (Note: Of the two I hid last year, one has been found only twice, and the other only once! Come on folks! Get 'em!) Anyway, yeah, the bugs... Man, those things are really shameless as far as attaching themselves. As the pirate said when asked why he had a ship's stearing wheel shoved down the front of his pants: "Arrrrgh, its driving me nuts!" Seriously, though, be REALLY careful looking for this one. The terrain is a bit treacherous. Remember, those caps of soil and moss on the rocks can slide of in a heartbeat and you really don't want to take a header off this hill! I actually saw someone do that years ago, but it was up around Griffy Lake in Bloomington, Indiana. A nice young lady I was hiking with around the lake had stopped to admire the view from the edge of the path. As she stepped onto the moss at the top of a long, steep, but fortunately smooth limestone face it gave way. She picked up speed pretty quick for no bigger than she was. One quick butt slide later she was dunked in the lake. I'm sorry, I just couldn't stop laughing. She was a bit honked at that, which could probably explain why it was eight or nine years later before she'd marry me. Anyway, hope you enjoy looking for this one and take some time to a) be VERY careful, and b) to enjoy the scenic area. (...oh yeah, and maybe c) bring a trash bag. Its not horrible, but a little site maintenance would be good.)
Oh yeah, I forgot to put in a dang pencil! Sorry 'bout that!
