The theme of the cache is a "hiker trading post". The cache
contains items that might be of use or interest to someone who is
enjoying a hike along this trail, or one of the other many trails
in Southern Ontario. So go out, get your boots dirty, and enjoy a
good hike and do some caching along the way!
In keeping with the spirit of the cache, be sure to do some
trading when you visit. Trade anything - Travel Bugs, Geo Coins,
used items, new items, whatever! Try to stick with the theme ....
there should be enough "latitude" to allow for lots of flexibility.
Record what was traded in your log..... take a photo if
possible.
At the moment, the best access option is the trailhead south of
Eden Mills. Up until 2007, it was possible to hike from the Guelph
end via the Eramosa River Dam. However, the dam and the trail in
that area is officially closed and the trail segment from Watson
Road to the dam is a side trail only. Please use common sense and
respect the closure.
Many thanks to GuelphHiker for the information on alternate
trailheads on Watson Road and Arkell Road. Thse are now added to
the listing.
Be sure to keep an eye on the orange blazes and stick to the
official path. There is a junction where the trail appears to keep
left, but the blazes are on the right. I have included the co-ords
of the trail junction where you will need to keep right (assuming
you start at the Eden Mills trailhead). Trail may be muddy - make
sure you have proper footwear!
The BeagleBrigade does most of our caching while hiking, and
this sport has introduced us to literally dozens of tracts and
trails we might never have discovered otherwise. Thanks to all the
cachers who have placed these caches, and we hope everyone has a
little fun with this one!
The Guelph
Trail Hiking Club has a website where you can get further
information about the club and the trails it maintains.
