This cache has been archived.

Diamond-JB: I am archiving this because the find rate has dropped off in the last few years, but more importantly, I want to make way for new caches.

Geocache Description:

                            Do We KenKen

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates.  There is no need to go to these coordinates.

About a year ago, the Boston Globe started carrying KenKens.  At first I found them very intimidating, but with a bit of practice they have become much more enjoyable.  I hope you like this one.

Here are the steps you need to follow to find this cache.

  1. Solve the KenKen.
  2. Certain boxes in the KenKen contain numbers that are used to find a reference.  (See the 2nd KenKen link which contains circles indicating the required boxes.  The numbers in the solved KenKen are used to find REF (A+B+C)(D)(E+F).(G)(H)
  3. When you arrive at this Reference, housed in a Westborough institution, you have reached Stage 1.  Congratulations.
  4. In proximity to the Reference (note the reference may be virtual and no longer physically exist at the institution), though not necessarily adjacent, you will find the Oracle.  You will know the Oracle because of its Black Spine and Orange Color, and because it is entitled with 3 words containing a total of 27 letters. This Institution is not a static place. As of this writing, September 2016, the Oracle is on the same shelf as the Reference, but there's no guarantee about the future. You should have enough information to locate the Oracle.
  5. In the Oracle, find the page location of George Noel Gordon, Lord Byron's “She walks in beauty” and the page location of Diana, Princess of Wales.
  6. If the two locations are specified as “abc” and “def” respectively, then the sum of “a” through “f” can be checked and has a value of 40.
  7. Stage 2, the location of the cache, is found at N42 15.(b-1)(c+1)(d-e)  W71 37.(f)(d)(d-c).

Here is where you will find the KenKen.

Here is where you will find the KenKen locations in step 2.
