Geocache Description:

You are looking for a 2.5" diameter screw top container. Its a fairly easy drive up and find but, sharp eyes will win the day. You will know your close when you see the ancient rail spike in the dirt. That said, watch out for snakes.

There is an easy, public pull off close to the cache off SR604, Halifax Rd located within sight of the new bridge which goes over the gully in which the Norfolk Southern Railway is located. While looking for the cache, know that you are standing in what was a no-mans land during the battle for the Weldon Railroad and Battle of Petersburg during the War of Northern Aggression. When facing the cache with the road at your back, the southern lines formed up approximately 1.5 miles to your left, or generally north along Defense Road. The Union lines were at your right along Flank Road or generally south.

Again, facing the cache, behind you across the small field and woods is what was Weldon Railroad, a major supply line for the South.

Following SR604, Halifax Rd, south, you will pass Fort Davis, a Union Fort on the right approximately 1 mile down the road.
