Geocache Description:

Moyallan Friends' Meeting House, built 1736. This belongs to the Religious Society of Friends, more commonly known as Quakers or Friends.

Quakers are reknowned for their integrity, simplicity of lifestyle and their testimony to peace. The society was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1947 for their work in relieving starvation and sickness during and after the World War. If you would like more information on the Society of Friends, click on the following link to Wikipedia - Quakers

The Meeting House is located on a picturesque rural road and is one of the most attractive and peaceful small religious clusters in the north of Ireland. The painted Moyallan Meeting House has a tree-lined approach, Arcadian porch, large clock and drive-through entrance to an enclosure and residence. This has been very well maintained and in 1976 the Meeting House was listed by the government as a building of special Architectural and Historic interest. The grave yard is interesting for its typically Quaker simplicity and lack of adornment on the graves. If you care to explore, there is a path from the graveyard, through mature beech trees to an old iron turnstile, which was probably a private path for local Quakers.

Please park outside the gate and keep any dogs under control. When looking round pay due respect to the graves and other surroundings.

The cache is a micro with log book and pencil and could probably hold a small geocoin. It is not located in the grounds of the Meeting House.

The cache is NOT at the published location.
You will probably need a calculator for this (is there one on your phone or GPSr?)

Latitude can be measured by checking the sun's angle at known dates and times, but also by distance.
At GZ there are 111,312 metres per degree of latitude.  The cache is 43,450.64 mtrs north of the 54th parallel. (Check by adding the NN.NNN digits together. Should =12)

Longitude depends on accurate time measurement, we'll work out the cache location manually, using decimal minutes format.
The Cache Longitude will be W 006 NN.NNN  (check your result by adding all the NN.NNN digits together. Should = 19)

1. Time recording
1.1 Record your EXACT time of arrival at GZ (12 hr format.). Convert to minutes
1.2 Get the local time from the clock. Convert to minutes
1.3 Add these minutes together
1.4 We're in the Northern Hemisphere, so multiply by two
2. Adjusting for 24 hour clock and UTZ time
2.1 Add on arrival time (in minutes)
2.2 Add 12 hours, in minutes
2.3 Divide result by 3   (this should have been Pi, but this makes it easier!!)
2.4 Subtract off arrival time (in minutes)
3. Allowing for Earth Constants
3.1 Subtract Tectonic Electomagnetic Variation (178.60 minutes)
3.2 Add Magnetic Declination (4degrees 25mins) in minutes (hint: 265 minutes)
4. Finally (!) - Allow for Earth's rotation
4.1 Divide by 24

Result should be 5 digits in format NN.NNN (this is the longitude minutes for the cache)
