Evil Ivy

Our Aunt Ivy was evil!
During her life she collected Charity Pin Badges, you know the sort, those small enamel badges that you donate a pound for. Unfortunately Ivy just collected these badges and never made any contribution to the actual charities.
Every Christmas and birthday we would buy her a badge to add to her collection but we would always donate to charity.
As children we would visit Aunt Ivy twice a year and the highlight of our trip was to see Aunt’s growing collection of shiny treasure! She would get the ‘treasure chest’ down from the top of her wardrobe while we squealed with delight in anticipation. Once the box was open, the shiny badges shone their bright colours and different metals. Aunt Ivy got great enjoyment from showing off her Charity badges but she always hid the box away before we left.
Several years later on one of our visits Aunt Ivy changed, becoming difficult, challenging and stubborn. She no longer allowed us to look at her treasure despite our childlike pleas.
Eventually we stopped our visits but continued to mail her badges on her birthday and at Christmas. This carried on for years until sadly Aunt Ivy passed away in the summer of 2008.
After her funeral we returned to her cottage for the wake and stealthy crept upstairs to the old wardrobe. We peered inside and looked around but there was nothing! No treasure box, no badges, no delight! What had she done with them all? We returned downstairs to find the rest of the family seated around the dining table. Great Uncle Frank produced a letter and began to read……..

“So you greedy buggers, I bet you’re all sitting here waiting to hear what wealth I’ve left you. Well I have news for you, there’s nothing, nothing at all. You see when you all abandoned me I became rather lonely so I bought a laptop. I started playing online bingo and found so many new friends. I had so much fun that I got completely carried away and ended up in debt, so the house, my jewellery, my bank accounts and my treasured pin badge collection all went to the a loan company and I was left penniless.”

“I did however save five of my precious charity pin badges or treasure as you liked to call them. I have hidden them in a favourite place of mine and you can by all means try to find them. As online bingo became my friend I became obsessed with numbers therefore I have listed some below for you but you must find some other numbers in order to get your grubby mitts on my treasure! However there is one rule you must follow – you may take but you must replace. Your replacement must be a pin badge that would make my collection proud. If you think you can get away with taking without replacing or leaving rubbish then my curse will envelop you and yours.”

“Remember my words wisely and follow the path, for if you stray or disobey, I’ll have the last laugh!”

Three weeks later, cousin Geo found Aunt Ivy’s favourite place and he took some treasure. Two days later Geo died in mysterious circumstances, apparently while logging a FTF (whatever that is) on some website called Gee-O-cackin or something. Police had been alerted due to neighbours hearing blood-curdling screams. They arrived on scene and started looking for clues. They examined cousin Geo’s computer and found an unopened email.
It came from a sender called Evil Ivy and it read –
YOU TOOK BUT YOU DID NOT REPLACE – HA HA HA!
