Geocache Description:

Near the group camping area, down a small trail that splits off the main trail.

Congratulations to athena1895 for being the first to find the cache!

The cache is a .50 caliber ammo can with the cache number spray painted on the side of it. It is almost in plain sight and should be very easy to find once you make it to the location. The cache site is near the group camping area at Pedernales Falls State Park. If you're staying in the group campsite, the cache is only a tenth of a mile away and should be easy to find. If you're not staying at the group campsite, you can park at the public swimming area and follow the trail from there. The trailhead is marked by a white metal gate at the edge of the parking lot. The cache is about a half mile from the parking lot. The trailhead listed on the website is where the smaller trail splits off from the main trail.

This cache was created and placed at part of the Spring 2009 Council Campout held by Camp Fire USA Balcones Council. We encourage other youth groups using the group campsite to leave patches, emblems, and other group related articles so that we can help foster a sense of community among the various youth groups in central Texas.

The cache includes some wooden nickels that commemorate the event, as well as a small plaque for the first person to find the cache.

Camp Fire USA clubs involved with placing the cache included:

  • The Mighty Platypi
  • The Jungle Cheetah Kids
  • The Footprints Club
  • The Golden Eagles

Important Note:
In our strong desire to show our continuing support for our state parks, ALL geocachers must pay the entrance fee or show your Texas State Parks Pass in order to log this cache! By doing so, we will help geocaching continue to be a readily accepted use of Texas State Parks by parks management. WE SUPPORT OUR STATE PARKS!

A permit has been filed with Pedernales Falls State Park to place this geocache. (Permit last updated on 05/14/2013)
