Geocache Description:

Situated off Eachelhurst Road, the Nature Reserve is signposted down a small track.

The site is surrounded by a mix of residential and industrial estates. Within the site is a small car park and Visitor Centre. Gates to car park close at dusk there is parking along the nearby road.
Plantsbrook Nature Reserve covers 10.72 hectares (26.49 acres) of natural space, consisting of open water, wetland, woodland and meadow. It is situated in a suburban housing area with industrial estates and extensive parkland nearby. A large proportion of the habitat is open water. The site lies on the Plantsbrook wildlife corridor. The site has always been a natural colletction place for water. In the 1700's a forge was built which used the water for power. By 1860 it became redundant. It was then turned into a reservoir and filter beds, these were the last reservoirs built in Birmingham. During the war the lakes were used to test torpedoes and amphibious landing craft. It has now been declared as a local Nature reserve, there is something of interest to be seen all year.Visitors are able to walk the entire site along well surfaced paths and boardwalks. Paths can get very muddy when wet.
The cache is a lock n lock box in a camo bag. At time of placing it contains log and small pencil. First to find badge and Geocoin. There is room for small items.
