Back to the Future / Yn ol i'r Dyfodol Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Southerntrekker: Hi There

As the owner has not responded to either my log or my colleague's previous log requesting that they check this cache I am archiving it.

Please note that once the cache has been archived, this can not be undone. This is explained in the Help Center - http://support.groundspeak.com//index.php?pg=kb.page&id=70

You will need to create a new listing, put it back in for review and as long as it meets today's guidelines and no other caches have been published in the area causing a proximity problem, then it will be published.

Regards

Geocache Description:

This is one of four caches that can be found on a circular walk from Coed y Brenin Visitor Centre (Car Parking charges) The cache can be reached on forest roads and walking trails, please do not use the Mountain Bike single track trails for your safety and theirs!

The cache is a plastic, clip lock tub containing a log book, information sheet and swaps.

Back to the future:

Having successfully found this cache it’s hard to imagine that this area was ever any different to now, but we know that this area was once wooded with native trees such as oak, ash and silver birch. As the need for the timber produced in the last century diminishes we are restoring areas of plantation to natural woodland by slowly thinning the conifers and allowing the natural woodland to return. This is part of the ‘Restoring our Forgotten Inheritance’ scheme.

Yn ôl i’r Dyfodol :

Mae’n anodd dychmygu, wrth i chi sefyll yma ar ôl darganfod y celc hwn, fod yr ardal hon yn edrych yn wahanol iawn ar un adeg. Ond gwyddom fod yr ardal unwaith yn goediog, gyda choed brodorol megis derw, ynn a bedw arian. Wrth i’r galw am y coed a gynhyrchwyd yn y ganrif ddiwethaf leihau, rydym yn awr yn adfer ardaloedd plannu yn goetiroedd naturiol drwy deneuo’r conwydd a gadael i’r coetir naturiol aildyfu. Mae hyn yn rhan o’r cynllun ‘Adennill ein Treftadaeth Anghofiedig’.
