Geocache Description:

This is yet another Nano! The cache is hidden at the outside of the Barnby Dun Pinfold and is easily accessible from the pavement. It is available even when the Pinfold is closed.

A Pinfold was an enclosure in which stray animals were impounded until claimed on payment of a fine. There are many of these to be found in different parts of the country.

Barnby Dun Pinfold is known to have existed since the 12th century, and was repaired an restored by the Barnby Dun with Krik Sandall Parish Council in 1985.

More recently, it was refurbished by the Garden Villagers in 2007 with the assistance of a YRCC Grant, and is now a peaceful garden for all to enjoy (but not all at the same time please!).

The Garden Villagers won a Spirit of Doncaster Pride Award in 2007 for this project.

Please note there is no need to climb over any fences to retrieve this cache.

Please keep this garden nice for the community. At the time of placing the cache the garden was in pristine order, so please help keep it that way - if there is any rubbish when you visit, remember cache in trash out!
