Geocache Description:

Bring your camera... the cache is hidden near beautiful senery.

The area, Homigot has beautiful sceneries. The name of Homigot comes from it's topographical shape of Korean peninsula. Homigot means "Tiger-taill Cape." Koreans believe that the Korean map resembles a tiger, and the location of Homigot lighthouse is right on the tiger's tail. During the Japanese occupation (1910-45), the Japanese changed the name of this place to Janggigot (jang means rabbit and gi means tail) in an effort to destroy Korea's dignity. The name reverted back to Homigot after 1945, although many maps and road signs still list the name as Janggigot.

The Homigot area is a great place to visit and to bring family. The sculptures here signify the New Year’s Homigot sunrise and is entitled 'Hand of Harmony'. The left hand stands on land, and the right hand stands in the ocean water. These sculptures are made of bronze and granite. The hands were constructed in 1999 to symbolize continuing efforts of all Korean citizens to pursue a better quality of life.

This cache is named “Hyok’s Pretfall.” Of course, “Hyok” is my first name, and the reason I added the word ‘pratfall’ is to recall an incident that I had. I started riding my MTB only a couple of days ago. I went up to Seoul to buy an MTB and bought a fairly good one. I stayed that day in Seoul and next day I got back to Pohang with that brand new bicycle. It was about 3:15 p.m. on Sunday afternoon when I got back from Seoul. The 4:30 hours of driving all the way from Seoul to Pohang made me very tired but I wanted to ride the brand new bicycle… just like little kids. Having bathed and changed, I went out … When I reached about 17 km away from Pohang to Kyongju, I met a MTB riding group and got to ride with them. However, all my attention was fascinated by a woman who was riding in front of me… her back was really… I had to stop when we met at a red traffic signal, but I forgot to take my foot off the bike pedal in twisting my heel… and fell down on the ground. Oooh…

I sent a message to my friend with a short explanation and at the end of my note I confessed to him that “Hey friend, there was a public and passionate crash …” the friend replied to me with a comment “there’s no free and the helmet should be on your head always even when you are asleep.”

I have learned from this incident that “Do not follow a woman when you riding a bicycle.”
