Geocache Description:

Estler’s Peak near Dugas provides a great view of the surrounding area. This peak was begging for a geocache and we felt ready to oblige. Take Dugas road east for 3.5 miles from I-17 and enjoy. Don’t try to climb the northern slope. Ouch.

This traditional cache in an ammo can starts off with some small tradeable items but the real prize is the great view in a fabulous location.

The hike is a little rough (no trail) but easily doable. The volcanic soul tends to slip a little if you try to be too aggressive. Don’t take anyone under 7 or 8. No need for special equipment but be sure to take plenty of water in the summer… The climb is higher than it first appears.

To your immediate south is the always running Little Ash Creek. If you approach Estler’s from the west, you can follow the dirt road south and then climb down to the creek. There is a perfect swimming spot.

Across Dugas road and a little past the peak there is a parking lot with a trail to some ancient petroglyphs. Don’t miss those either.

We hope you enjoy our first cache! We are anxious to hear what you think.
