Geocache Description:

A series of caches placed one year apart, always on the cache owners birthday. We'll see how far this goes! This two stage multi-cache will take you first to the site of an old pioneer cemetary in Georgetown, Ontario. Here you will need to collect some numbers and do some calculations to figure out the co-ordinates for the final location, which will take you on a leisurely walk by a beautiful stream.

At the posted co-ordinates you will find an open space by an old Anglican church in Georgetown, and you will see all the tombstones in a small fenced in area. The local minister informed me that this cemetary was used from about 1855 when the church was built until the early 1900's, when it was decided by the town that small pioneer cemetaries such this one would no longer be used in favor of one large town cemetary. There were about 38 people buried in this cemetary, and over time many of the tombstones broke, got worn down, and were strewn about the cemetary.

About 40 years ago the salvagable gravestones were moved to their current central location, since the actual individual grave locations were no longer known. Apparently cemetary plot records were either lost or were never written down on paper to begin with.

The co-ordinates for the final cache location are:
N 43 3A.BCD W 079 5E.FGH

To calculate ABCD:
1. Find the year Charles Dade died and multiply it by 4.
2. Find the year Amy Dade died and divide it by 2. Add this number to the number from the Charles Dade calculation.
3. Subtract 173 and you will have ABCD

To calculate EFGH:
1. Find the year "Sarah's" husband with no name (tombstone is broken) died and multiply it by 2.
2. Find the age Helen Dade was when she died. Multiply this number by 6 and subtract the answer from the result of the "Sarah" calculation.
3. Add 45 and you will have EFGH.

Recommended parking co-ordinates for the final are at N 43 38.399 W 079 53.407 and then walk down the big hill to approach the cache from the trailhead at the bottom.

My boys are busy collecting and trading hockey, baseball and racing cards, so this is the theme of this birthday cache. Please bring a card to trade if you have one, or you can just swap a trinket!
