In honor of the World Wide Flash Mob V event held in DuPont on 5/2/2009, we are placing this cache off a little-used trail near Hoffman Hill Blvd.
There are two possible parking areas on Hoffman Hill; these are the two ends of the trail. One is closer to the cache site than the other, but both are pretty hilly and even the shorter one is at least a quarter of a mile from the cache site (one way). The trail is wide and gravel-packed.
The cache is located off the trail near a low concrete wall which seems to do nothing but contain a pool of mud and standing water—a mosquito paradise! Be wary of stinging nettles in the area too! Of course, if you come in the winter, you should be pretty safe.
This is our first traditional cache; the others have all been puzzles or multis, so we didn't want this to be too easy! ;-)
The cache is initially filled with little trinkets, mostly kid-related items. FTF gets a geocaching.com compass/zipper-pull.
Update: 4/30/10. This cache disappeared one day this month. I replaced it with a smaller, harder to get to, and harder to find container. Then, out of nowhere, the original re-appeared. I decided to keep both containers in place just in case the original goes missing again. Feel free to sign either or both logs.
