Geocache Description:

ARRRRR!!

-

Tieltä kätkölle ja takaisin tulee yhteensä noin kilometrin verran kävelyä, joten kätkön hakee varsin nopeasti. Suurin osa matkasta on varsin helppokulkuista, etenkin jos hieman maltat kiertää.

ARRRRR!!

Captain Torbenius lived in the 18th century. He was a tiny but cruel pirate. According to an old legend his most valuable treasure - which he acquired during a looting trip to Africa - is hidden nearby a lake south from Tampere.

No one has so far been lucky enough to find the treasure, even though a map drawn by Torbenius himself was found lately. Presumably the map is somehow related to the location of the cache (see attached photo).

Torbenius was a globetrotter, and during his trips he made lots of observations about the shape of the globe. As a matter of fact, he was convinced that the globe was actually geoid instead of sphere. Thanks to his calculations, the coordinates he measured using a sextant may well be close to those that GPS receivers use. (Because of his heretic views - the Earth was commonly thought to be a sphere - Torbenius got executed. His last words were "and yet it still is flat from the poles.")

The rumour has it that Torben's pets are still along the route to the treasure and may give hints. In addition remains of Torbenius may be found in the area.

A hidious curse will be cast upon anyone who robs the treasure, so don't even think about it.

Good luck!

Walk from the road to the cache and back should be something like a kilometer.
