Lionette Ballfields
Yes another ballfield cache. In 1969 the Lionette organization was formed to upgrade the old fast pitch diamond at the South Hutchinson City Park, which was donated by the Lions Club. The diamond was at that time was overgrown with weeds and in total disrepair. The Lionettes used the field for tournaments and rented it out for tournaments and practice. The Lionettes used this income to support their women's softball team and youth girls team(hence the name). The field became known for it's wooden outfield fence painted blue with advertising on it. In 1973 the First Nazarene Church mens team coached by Roy McFarland (my father) rented the diamond for a tournament that became the first church state tournament held in Kansas. In 1974 the church built it's own diamond at K61 and 11th and ran leagues there until 1977 when the church sold the ground. At that time the Hutchinson Community Church league bought the K61 diamond, and the Lionettes were disbanding. After recommendations by the Lionettes the HCC began running the diamond and donated the diamond equipment from K61 to the City park to create the east diamond.
At the present time the fields are ran by the HCC League. This is a volunteer ran organization that runs church and open leagues. HCC has also supported North America Fast pitch, USSSA Youth Baseball champships, State and World slow pitch tournaments. So at certain times of the year the muggles will be thick and steath maybe tough.

Congrats to Jevi75 on FTF!
