Geocache Description:

Micro. BYOP

Gale Park is one of those under-utilized Haverhill parks that packs a lot of landscaping into a small park. Named for Moses Gale, a leather merchant and philanthropist from Haverhill who wholesaled leather to the shoe industry in the heyday of Queen Slipper City. This little park is also home to three monuments dedicated to those who served our country. The oldest is the monument to the " Spanish Conflicts". It is the ranger statue that is often mistaken for a minuteman. It is one of only 12 throughout the country.

The second is the monument to those who died in World War One, where the names of many prominent Haverhill families will be familiar.

The newest is a monument to women who served in the military.

The little park has lush lawns, a historic fountain, and a wide variety of flowering shrubs and plants. A pleasant little oasis in the Highlands neighborhood. A dedicated neighbor works hard to constantly make sure this park is always clean and beautiful. If you see her out there sweeping or picking up trash you'd be best to use stealth, as she is pretty tenatious about protecting the park from what she perceives as "misuse".
