Geocache Description:

Approach from the east. In honor of ghost640's 1000th find.

Note that this cache may have been emptied of trade goods by muggles of some sort - make your own judgment if you want to place TB's here.

Suggested route:

  1. Park at PARKING waypoint.
  2. Walk on road to TRAILHEAD waypoint.
  3. Follow ridge line to MEADOW waypoint.
  4. Proceed to cache, and visit ONETREE if inclined.
  5. Reverse to return.

The above is best for keeping your feet dry. Do not approach from the west, you'll be crossing private land. There is a trail a little south of and parallel to the ridge route, but it can be wet. Or you can approach from the south, be careful crossing the stream.

Congrats to ghost640 for his upcoming 1000 finds, and some of the most interesting cache placements in the Duluth area.

This spot has always intrigued me on the satellite images, apparently it's an abandoned hay-field which is not converting back to forest very quickly. I had originally planned to put this cache near the ONETREE waypoint, but it didn't look muggle safe. You can visit the tree and see how it's surrounded by generations of offspring, doing its best to reclaim the area. The dense summer growth of grass and tansy may be keeping other trees at bay - take hay-fever meds. if you need them.

A branch of Amity Creek is a short bushwhack west of the cache (staying on the east side of the stream keeps you off private land), another branch south of the cache runs west to east parallel to Skyline Parkway.
