Geocache Description:

Cache with a great view of the Gila (heela) Wilderness. At the cache site there is a pullout that will get you off of the highway. Please park there to begin your search. Cache is located on a rocky slope nearby.

Irish Babe and Coyote Hunter have been blessed with great Dads that have helped to instill the spirit of adventure with their children. As Coyote Hunter passed this site and gazed out over one of the greatest wild areas in the world, the Gila Wilderness, he reflected on how our fathers have given us their wonderful gift to want to see what is over the next ridge, up the next draw, inside that big cave, or just past that big mountain.

Frank Mead may have come by it naturally, since the Irish have always had a yearning to wander. He has always loved to take us out and show us new areas he has "discovered" during his travels. One look at his smiling Irish face and bright shining eyes lets you know that it is going to be fun. That's what Frank Mead is about. Having fun! And he loves a good story!

Stanley Franzoy always been a hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He has passed those traits on to many of his kids. Coyote Hunter's childhood memories are filled with hunting, fishing or exploring with his dad. Coyote Hunter still remembers his dad teaching him how to stream fish on the West Fork of the Gila on a 50 miler backpacking trip, not far from this cache.

From this cache you can see a large area of the Gila Wilderness. It is a wonderful area to hike, backpack, hunt, fish, rockclimb, explore, camp, photograph wildlife or scenic views, horsepack, birdwatch or do a million other things in a wilderness without vehicles. Thanks to our forefathers who had the insight and vision to set aside an area where we can go and listen to the mountain and the stream. Aldo Leopold wrote, "There are some who can live without wild things and some who cannot." While Coyote Hunter was in the wild today he saw about sixty deer, an antelope, two turkeys, and an assortment of small game and birds. Take time when you are here to listen, smell, look and hear. Walk in beauty.

Cache contents include a collectible DARE bear pin, turquoise from Great Horny Toads, and a Royal Trude fly. As always in the desert, watch out for things that bite, sting or poke. And watch out for mean folks. Happy Caching!
