The cache is just off Fairview Dr. closer to Rt. 218. There is a gravelled pull off for short term parking. Med sized (15oz) well camouflaged lock n' lock. Can hold smaller sized swag.
Look around for a less steep way up the hill.
Fairview Beach is located on a 5 mile wide section of the Potomac River just before it turns north towards Washington D.C.. You can see MD on the far side.
There are about 250 houses at the beach & some are still summer cottages. It is mostly a retirement community now. The beach boasts 3 restaurants & a country store. The river’s edge is the border between VA & MD. The pier was built when MD allowed gambling & VA did not. There is no gambling there now.
The swimming beaches are private (for residents & guests only) but people get around that by parking their boats just offshore. We have seen over 300 boats parked here at once on a hot summer day. One of the restaurants runs a boat taxi to cater to the boaters.
Drive along Fairview Dr. to see this beautiful river. Share the road with golf carts, bicycles and walkers.
