Up until about 10 years ago, State Highway 51 use to go past this Rest Area. It was used quite heavily because it was the only rest stop between Wausau and Minocqua.Today the road is now State Highway K, but the rest area is still here and going strong! It is mostly used by local families and fishermen as the lake is stocked full of pan fish and bass.
In today's budget cut backs and the amount of rest areas that are disappearing, I am pleasantly surprised this one is still going strong.
I hope you can spend a little time here and enjoy the quite (no busy highway anymore!) and see if you can catch a fish or two.
