Geocache Description:

River Walkway

There is a walkway running from Captain Cook’s statue at the entry of the mouth of theTuranganui River, all the way back to town close to the monument of Wiremu Pere who was M.P. for Eastern Maori from 1884–1886 and 1894 1905 and Member of the Legislative Council from 1907–1912. He died in 1915

The cache is situated along this walkway that goes under a big bridge carrying State Higway 35 which is called Wainui Rd as it comes into town and crosses the shortest river of the world (1200meters) called Turanganui River.

Stream upwards two rivers come together to form the source of the Turanganui River, they are: Taraheru River Waimata River

Satellite reception a bit made difficult by buildings around. Watch the children as it is close to the water. Requires high stealth because of the strollers and joggers that use the pathway. Lots of muggles. Take your time and observe how you get the container out in order to replace it exactly how you found it. The cache is a round 125ml snaplock container with a magnet at the base. At the start it contained:
Logsheets in a plastic bag with silica gel
Pencil and sharpener
White dice
