Even when the overgrowth is light Oxbow tends to mess with your GPSr. Both stages of this cache are hidden in the obvious woods style to aid in finding, even if your GPSr is giving you trouble.
Stage one is located at the edge of the steep slope above the river. My preferred approach is the river loop, then cut up the hill in a gully or a deer trail. In the first stage (a regular size contianer), you'll find a the coordinates to the final, plain and simple. There used to be a neat puzzle to solve here in the first stage, but that was muggled and I just haven't set up a good replacement, so you get to take the easy way now
Stage two (the final) is just as obvious as the first stage once you get close. On your way to the final you'll join a park trail for a while. You might not want to follow your pointer, but rather circle around a little bit...you'll see what I mean.
Once you've found the cache there are a number of ways back out of the woods:
- Back the way you came
- Down the hill to the river, cross-country
- Back to the trail and down
I hope you enjoy the views, plants and animals. The ridge high above the river has some nice views if there isn't too much overgrowth. Springtime brings a huge selection of wildflowers and plants that are amazing and beautiful. Don't be surprized at all if you spot a deer or other creature up on the ridge.
