Geocache Description:

We're not sure where we came came up with the name of the cache,
but we thought it was a good one for the cache location.
This is probably the largest tree along this stretch of the trail.
And probably, at one time, a whole lot bigger.

*** We recommend that you wear long pants when hunting this cache.***

The Miami and Erie Canal extends 249 miles connecting Lake Erie at Toledo to the Ohio River at Cincinnati, Ohio, was built between 1825 to 1845. The entire canal system was 301.49 miles long and cost $8,062,680.07.

The construction of the Miami and Erie Canal was done by Irish immigrants, convicts, and local farmers using picks, shovels and wheelbarrows to relocate dirt and clay. This dawn to dusk labor brought in a wage of 30 cents a day. It was also a certer for disease and drunken violence.
