Way to Valbergtaarnet, Greglln #2 Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

cervisvenator: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,
Cervis Venator

Geocache Description:

This is a small cylindric container (2x10cm), see pictures. It contains only a pencil and a logbook, too small for any trade items.

The cache is hidden in the middle of the city center. So be carefull for the mugglers. Place it back exactly where you find it.

Your task will be to walk with 2 small children through the walking streets of Stavanger and to bring them to the Valberg tower. This walk should take you less than 1h. So go and meet them at the above coordinate.

At the meeting point, you will see a small plate. What was the jubilee (ABC years)?? Something also happened on 1 septembre, but which year?? (year = DEFG). On the closest lightpole, a number is written on red background, this number is H.
Bring now the children to the following coordinate to meet a strange man: N58°58.GGC E05°44.B(E-D)B.

How many buttons does he have to close his jacket (don't forget the bottom one)?? This number is IJ.
The children would like to see a movie this afternoon. So, bring them to the following coordinate: N58°58.(I+I)66 E05°44.JJ(H-D).

Look for a tie and a clock and the year will give you KLMN.
Your next step will be to go to: N58°58.K(L-K)H E05°43.LK(L-M).

There you will find a statue. What are the birth and death year of Magnus Vigrestad?? This will give you 18OP-19QR.
Walk now to: N58°58.MRG E05°43.FG(O-Q+I).

You will now arrive at an old "Apoteket". Four years are mentionned on a small blue plate, which one is the oldest?? This will give you STUV.
You are now on your way to the Valberg tower at: N58°58.GST E05°43.OOU. You can also have a beautifull viewpoint on the city and its harbour.

What's the date written above the door?? This will give you WXYZ.
The final cache is located at N58°58.(Y-M)V(W+T) E05°43.XOZ.

The Valberg Tower (Valbergtårnet) as it stands today, was built in 1853 as a watch tower. The tower is 26. 5 meters tall. It lays in the middle of the city on a height looking over the town centrum. It was most likely built upon the ruins of an older watch tower. The eight-sided tower was designed by the Norwegian architect Christian Grosch who also designed the Norwegian Royal Palace and the old toll house in Stavanger.
