Clarens Roundabout Mystery Cache
ROTSIP: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

This is an old fashioned treasure hunt in the beautiful village of Clarens and round about. The published co-ordinates are the start of the hunt. By finding the answers to the clues below, and inserting them into the parking and cache co-ordinates, you will discover a whole new, picturesque part of Clarens.
1) The Memorial of the "Slag van Naaupoort" is where you start (published co-ordinates). When did this "slaughter" occur? 2E Sept 18B5.
2) Find the Clarens Methodist Church. What date did Emma Walker lay the cornerstone? A August 19A6
3) Sentraal Oos (Kooperatief) Beperk on Main Road was opened on GC April 1994 (There is still a "corner"stone where this Co-op was with the inscription on it)
4) The cornerstone at the NG Kerk was laid on FD February 19D0
5) Restaurant, Deli, and Luxury Accommodation, is "2J8 on Main".
6) The tree planted outside the Clarens Museum building - if only it were still a museum. (A clue to check some of your other answers!) December GE8J
Now, park at S28 AG 0ED E 028 FD CBG. From here, walk through the rotating gate, and follow the path to the large wet area.
From here during autumn, be aware of excessive black jacks on the lower path, but if you take the higher elevation you will miss these. Any other time of year the lower path is a pretty cool way to go.
The cache is in a small rocky embankment, which during the rainy season, may cause a few damp shoes. The cache co-ordinates are S 28 A0 EDJ, E028 FD GJA.
Below the rocky embankment, downstream, is a small walled dam under a rocky overhang, which is the "town's dam", the original (historical) water supply for the village.
Apologies for the possibly slightly off co-ords, my GPS had an 8m accuracy on the day.
