Burradon Tower Traditional Cache
Workyticket: As there appears to have been no response from the CO we are archiving this cache listing to prevent it from continually showing up in search lists and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements in the area. Once a cache is archived for non-responsiveness (including the cache page) it can't be unarchived.

Small tub containing usual small trinkets on a well worn public footpath.
It is advisable to leave your car at the end of the lane when you pull off Burradon Road next to the Whitley Bay Meat Company as the lane leads to private houses and holiday homes and parking there may be frowned upon. The walk in takes you past fields of cows and their calves.
Burradon Tower
There is no firm date for the building of the tower. H.H.E. Craster (N.C.H.) suggests that the building of the tower may be associated with Bertram Anderson, who was conveyed a moiety (share?) of Burradon in 1548. He is described as "of Burradon" in 1553.
The earliest mention of the tower in documentary sources is 1569. No mention is made of the tower in the survey of fortified buildings of 1415. There is however, mention made of a tower at Weetslade beside the sea.
See the link for full information on the tower.
In the nearby fields there are lots of horses, ponies and a goat called Gordon that apparently doesn't like women. Methinks Gordon is a moron, lol.
