Geocache Description:

Brun's Bridge on Mill Hill Road in Franklin Co

This cache will take you to Bruns’ Brigde in Franklin County. It is one of the few still around built in this style with wood decking. Up until the mid 1990’s the bridge was still in use but the growing demand of traffic and the one lane, wood, decking of the bridge led to the new, curved, concrete bridge. Up until a few years ago the bridge was accessible to pedestrian use and there were many a times that a traveler driving down the road could see the local youth jumping from the old bridge to the swimming hole below or the local fisherman fishing from it. It was a few years back that a young man, not from the area, jumped from the bridge and was seriously hurt or killed after he hit the bottom of the river. Since then the bridge has been condemned for any type of use.
The Merrimac River which flows below the old Bruns’ Bridge, on occasion will flood and will actually flow over the top of the wood decking and railing of the old bridge.
With that being the case, the Cache has been hidden in a way that it can always be accessible year round regardless the river is flooded or not. But keep in mind that if the river is flooded and the gates to the road are closed, there is another way around to get to the cache.
Please do not trespass on the old bridge. The Cache is NOT on the old bridge.
Please do not cross any closed road gates because of flooding. Find the other route to the cache.
Be sure to find the other caches nearby and bring a camera and your own writing utensil
