Geocache Description:

A nice walk to the top of the hill with great views of the surrounding countryside. To add a little extra fun the exact coordinates are contained in Easy Bircher - treat this & the views as a bonus!

Bircher Common is managed by the National Trust, as is nearby Croft Castle which has a good tea room and kids castle. The woodland at the top is managed by the Forestry Commission and this is where the cache is.

We love the views over the surrounding area from up here, especially as it doesn't take too long to get up to the top. You should be able to do this cache in less than an hour if you don't spend too long looking!

After a couple of comments about the difficulty of finding the stile into the forest, I've added an approximate waypoint for it. (Done from memory and google maps so don't shoot me if it is a little out!) N 52° 17.724 W 002° 47.423

The cache container is the size of a largish thermos and painted brown/green!

The cache is in the general area of the published coords - but you will need to look in Easy Bircher for the exact numbers.

Whilst we were setting the cache which is full of swaps we saw a deer, birds of prey and a butterfly as well as the livestock on the common. Watch out for the gorse close to the cache – it got me in the arm! (Long sleeves might be an idea!)
