Geocache Description:

An easy cache just a short walk from the car park in an attractive part of the Kent countryside starting from the famous 'Headcorn Oak' within the graveyard.

This cache is just a short walk from the village of Headcorn. It is highly recommended that you explore the quaint and specialised shops in the village afterwards, and to walk in the historic area around the churchyard.

The footpath to this cache begins in front of the south door to the church and allows you to follow the ‘Flagstone Alley’ towards the cache. PLEASE be careful when crossing the railway line.

The site around the cache is good for wildlife. When we first visited (May) there were Nightingales singing in nearby bushes and a Great Spotted Woodpecker was nesting near the path. Look out for the Banded Demoiselles (damselfly with dark patches on their wings) which are common in the area during the summer. The odd calls coming from the wet areas could well be Marsh Frogs! Kingfishers can be seen here too.

We recommend you park at N 51 10.057 E 00 37.195 but this could be busy during the times of Church services!

The GPS did not like taking a reading whilst under tree cover so the reading could be a little bit out but this should not stop you finding the cache, we feel.

The cache pot stays fixed and you will probably need tweezers to remove log from it.
