Turning Passion Into Achievement Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

PSCS Intensive: This multi has been a lot of fun for a lot of folks over the past several years (7 favorites! Cool!). But the final was recently destroyed and it's position is now in a construction zone. What's more the initial waypoint in the multi has been stolen/muggled/vandalized multiple times and replaced. Re-securing the initial waypoint and completely reconfiguring the puzzle and establishing a new final is more maintenance than we have to offer, so it's time to say goodbye to our beloved cache. R.I.P, T.P.I.A. We surrender.

Geocache Description:

A unusual puzzle-multi in the I-District. You'll tour a park with a positive social mission and then transition to another often undiscovered park on the opposite side of I-5. About 1/3 mile total walk.

This is a multi-stage geocache with three separate 'finds', and a puzzle that can only be fully solved on-site. Only the final cache contains the log. You'll need a way to copy instructions (writing or photographing) and a way to record information from the on-site puzzle.

_________________________________________________________________________

IMPORTANT:

-The first cache tells you where to start the puzzle and contains instructions about how to do the puzzle.

-At the end of the puzzle, you can find the second cache. It contains instructions about what to do with the puzzle results to get to the final cache.

During your quest, you'll be introduced to two hillside parks and an unusual walking route that connects them. The first park is the Danny Woo Gardens, where students from our school do service work. The second park also features community gardens and a playfield adjacent to a community center, where our school holds impromptu soccer games, ultimate games, etc. There are at least two walking routes between the two locations, both interesting:

The slightly shorter route (but with more elevation change) is to drop downhill to Jackson, head East on Jackson underneath I-5, where your GPS will likely lose signal. Look for the stairs on the North side of Jackson, just barely on the east side of the I-5 overpass. Your GPS should come alive again as you climb these steps alongside the east side of I-5.

The slightly longer route (but with less elevation change) is to climb to the very top of Danny Woo Gardens, near the very first hide, then continue north along the east side of the nearest building (between the building and I-5), find the narrow paved path, connect to Yesler, and use it to cross the highway (an impressive view, be sure to look back towards downtown as you head east). From there, your GPS should lead you reasonably directly to the final cache.

This multi was created by a team at Puget Sound Community School during a one-week 'Intensive' on Geocaching. PSCS is an extraordinary, private, non-profit school for kids aged 12-18.

"Turning Passion Into Achievement" is our school's motto.

Our cache-makers were Dexter, Sean, Simon, Cooper, Martin, and staff member Scobie.

Happy Hunting!!
