Now that you know about hams (and their weird bricolages ...) it should be no surprise that they weren't satisfied with the transmission of voice and text. They wanted to exchange pictures of their shack, their antennas or just their QSL-cards.

So "slow scan television" was born and is still used by many of them (e. g. on the multimode relay on "Göttelborner Höhe" at 438.600 MHz).
