For The Birds Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

RevTieDye: Well, it looks like this cache has lived its life. It survived maintenance-free for 2 years after I moved to South Dakota. But the container is no longer water-tight, and needs more help than a good samaritan cacher can provide.

Thanks for all the kind posts. I am going to shut this one down.

**Bonus Smiley to cencal93277, for the "water log" pun!

So long and thanks for all the visits--over 100!

Geocache Description:

Short walk (100m) across a flat grassy area from nearby parking*. If the flat area is in use, the walk will be longer--you'll have to hike around the perimeter--and the difficulty will be higher because of all the muggles. Prize: Take a Magnet, even if you have nothing to trade! (*If the "nearby parking" you find is west of the coordinates, the terrain will be much rougher/more annoying, but muggles will be fewer. Park to the east, and it's a walk in the park.)

This flat area hosts a youth sports program, which struggles with the prolific gopher mounds you may notice on your walk. You should spot a couple of structures that the local caretaker had built to attract owls to the area, in attempts to limit the local rodent population, and protect the ankles of hundreds of running children. (So far, it hasn't attracted any birds of prey). The caretaker is aware of the cache, and sounded quite interested in becoming a cacher after we explained what we were up to. This is either a kind-of smallish small, or a pretty big micro, but not big enough to hold a pen, so bring your own (BYOP) to sign the log. The night-watchman is now aware of the cache, so he won't bother you. Daytime traffic is typical, so you should have no problems. Congratulations to JKNOneal (formerly known as CarsonCrew) for being FIRST TO FIND(FTF). Thanks to PurpHaze. This cache is made from one of the ready-made cache containers that they placed in their "The Mad Scientists' Laboratory" cache (GC1R5HF).
