Orion ( the hunter) 1.Rigel Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

gryff: As I am moving from the area and have other commitments I am no longer able to maintain the “Orion” series. I sadly will be archiving the series. If anyone is in the middle of the search for “Saith” please contact me and I will send the details to complete the series as the final cache will still be in place.

Geocache Description:

This is a series of 8 caches that are placed in the shape of the constellation of ORION (the hunter) around the village of St Fagans. The caches would be best tackled in order. The walk is approximately 4 miles long and should take around 4 hours to complete and will take you mainly along public footpaths which may be muddy at times. It skirts around the perimeter of The St Fagans National History Museum in places, which is worth a visit if you have the time. If at any time you need a break you are never too far away from The Plymouth Arms, which serves excellent food all day and a selection of real ales. Parking is available in the large pub car park. You will require a writing implement to sign the logs.

Orion is made up of 8 stars and is easily identifiable in the night sky. They are Rigel,Bellatrix, Meissa, Betelgeuse,Mintaka,Alnilam,Alnitak and Saiph. Orions “belt” is made up of 3 stars Mintaka,Alnilam and Alnitak. The Pharaohs of the Fourth Dynasty were star worshippers and knew considerably more about astronomy than previously thought. The three main Giza Plateau Pyramids were allegedly designed in alignment with the Belt Stars of Orion.

They are made up of 7 micro caches which each contain part of the coordinates that will take you to Saiph the final star of ORION (the hunter)

I would like to thank aRRKS for the inspiration. See (The Plough GCK045).
