The Great Deku Tree Nature Walk Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

jearsy: Unfortunately as the result of the on going Southlands dispute and development proposal the main entrance the possible secondary entrances to the geocache and the great tree are now gone. It is a shame, I have a lot of good memories through there.

Thank you to everyone who came and visited this cache.

Geocache Description:

A nice little cache located in a secluded forest which can be accessed by a clear, albeit overgrown well established path, and boardwalks.

Welcome to a beautiful little secret area in Tsawwassen!

This is a great area for the dogs as they can be allowed to run free and from where the cache has been hidden you can take a couple different trails that would either lead to Boundary Bay or up to the "No-Mans" Land between Canada and the USA (these aren't government maintained). If you choose to do a little exploring trust your instincts but you would find various fire pits and other boardwalks that have been built and maintained by the local residences for years. The boardwalks have been made because only the locals know this is a great little area to do some mountain biking.

This is a very nice walk through the forest, the trail can be muddy, and plants at certain times of the year could cover the above, the trail is none-the-less very well defined and large portions of it you will go along some nifty and cleverly made boardwalks. The trail leading up to the cache is flat, it is the trails that lead after wards if you go north that are not.

The best and really the easiest way to reach the cache is to park anywhere along the road at N 49° 00.283 W 123° 03.795. From here the cache is about 400 or so meters away. The parking coordinates will lead you to a quiet dead end residential street.

Depending what time of day and year you come and seek the cache you will find and hear lots of different kinds of birds and other wildlife. I counted three different kind of Hummingbirds alone when I placed the cache this afternoon!

Otherwise good luck! Please re hide the cache the way that you found it.

Enjoy!!

p.s. congratulations to Xtremeskier1978 for the FTF!!
