Geocache Description:

This terrrain is intense. You will have to go up a huge hill, gain about 1,000 feet of elevation in less than half a mile, and there is no trail. It is difficult, but once you're at the top everything is easy.

To get to this cache you will need to park at Trout Creek Campground outside of the town of Gateway. The road turns to gravel and is somewhat steep.

Once there you will hike up to the top of the butte. It is BLM land, but there is an old fence from when it used to be farmer's land. The fence is just lying on the ground but just watch out so you don't trip on any barbed wire.

The hike is rough and difficult, but that being said my 53 year-old father has done the hike as well as some 5 year old's we have taken camping there. I can hike to the top in 20 minutes but 45-60 is more reasonable. The view from the top is spectacular. Once at the top it's a flat and easy hike to the cache.
